Finding toilets such a problem, specially when you need it badly. Paromita Vohra has made this documentary Q2P which can be viewed on the Sulabh YouTube Channel – https://youtu.be/hsJh_BamKgo
Q2P is an insightful documentary on toilets. It has touched upon a lot of sanitation aspects for the cities. A mention in the rural segment, specially villages, where they feel open defecation is a fertiliser for their fields is missing. Plus, building toilets is not a solution, changing attitude towards toilets, talking openly about toilets. The reaction of Rukshana Khan, keeps ringing in my mind and the other end, there is Bilqis, which have different challenges. We really need to find a way to make the public toilets more welcoming for women. We are living in India, which is a very complicated society and at the same time, we all know the importance of the toilets. We will need to make it more prominent in our urban planning. There are just so many things that one need to do and customise these things to individual needs of the community that is living in the vicinity. One thing which is common is to build the toilet with proper discharge, I would have been horrified or surprised, if Raju Bhai was not giving proper sewage channel.
The only way we can make the impact by asking uncomfortable questions, which is this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR5WNuo23Uk. It given an insight to the people and sanitation and their responses to lady asking to go to the toilet. The only solution left is to make people, government heads embarrass and ashamed to take action.
At Avignyata Inc. we are trying to make an impact with a small innovation to map toilets across India through PeeProvider.com. The Android and Apple is an aim to provide the cleanest loo, nearest to you.
